The Aurora Foundation assists colleges and universities to help veterans who enter the scholastic environment graduate from college and enter the workforce. We envision this as a transition from “Boots to Books to Business.” Our programs and partnerships are all structured under each phase of this transition, working with others who support our military men and women in uniform as well as those in higher education who are dedicated to providing a veteran-friendly campus with resources that enable veteran students to succeed.
More than 2 million veterans will return home from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan to become beneficiaries of the new GI Bill. Student veterans bring both unique skill sets and unique challenges to learning in the classroom. Today, colleges are not as prepared to deal with challenges that are presented by students who have served during times of war.
Aurora is committed to working with colleges and universities as they develop programs, educate faculty and administration, and provide services that allow veterans to be successful as students, and soon as graduates, and ultimately as contributing members of our nation’s industry.
Aurora is also committed to funding internship positions for veteran students so that they obtain the direct and relevant industry experience that will enable them to secure employment after securing their degree.
