On October 12, 2018, the Aurora Board of Directors awarded grants for veteran’s programs at two institutions, Eastern Washington University and Pierce College.

Eastern Washington University’s Veterans Resource Center received funding to support their “Got Your 6” training program. Since its inception in 2013, EWU’s “Got Your Six” program trains more than 300 faculty, staff and students annually, and is offered three to five times a year.

Pierce College received a grant to support their Peer-to-Peer Mentorship/Tutoring Program, Veterans College Preparatory course and seminars, Military and veteran Awareness training for Staff and Faculty, and Internship programs. The Veteran’s Center at Pierce College is dedicated to providing a safe and friendly environment for veterans to socialize, provide peer-to-peer support, and make informed decisions about educational and life goals.

Tom DeWitt, President for the Foundation commented that “These two universities are doing a great job supporting student veterans. The Aurora Foundation is proud to help further the cause of education for veterans.”
